Humanising Online Retailing - the #dragonstail #REDV

Say hello to Brooke, the Manager of the Dragonstail - the new St George Illawarra Dragons online store developed by MaxMedia, e-corner, MaxyPhoto and CLIVE.

For the "welcome" video clip we're running an A/B split between Brooke and charismatic Dragons RedV Ambassador Wendell Sailor.  The split allows us to compare and see who resonates best with visitors both in the immediate online sales environment but also the ability to look at the mid and longer term impact of Internet video on offline store sales.

Online Retailing research has shown that upto 50% of shoppers will Research Online Buy Offline (ROBO) - the video implementation designed to connect online and offline customers.

For instance, if you walk into the physical Dragons store at St George Leagues Club at Kogarah or go the merchandising van at a game, then you are likely to meet Brooke in real person - this increases shopper confidence, trust and puts a face to the store.

Scheduled clips

The meet and greet clips have a muted audio, click to play feature and have also been scheduled to only play once per year per new visitor.

As we know many competitor attempts at CLIVE are very irritating - either poorly scripted, produced, play everytime or buffered video serving.

Using Personalised Video to Reduce Shopping Cart Abandonment Rates

Another clip of Wendell is also triggered at the shopping cart payment phase to reduce shopping cart abandonment.

In the pipeline are more clips similar to the very successful 2010 Dancing Dell Reebok clip which was picked up and aired straight away by Nine News and Fox Sports.

It goes to show that in today's competitive marketplace you need to cut through the crowd to stand out.
